VISUAL DESIGN
Content Endorsed Course (Non-ATAR) - 2 Units
This practical based course provides students with opportunities to exploit the links between art and design by designing and making images and objects in which the visual qualities and symbolic meanings are as important as function. It encourages students to explore the practices of graphic, wearable, product and interior/exterior designers in contemporary societies and promotes imaginative and innovative approaches to design within the context of the Australian environment and culture.
The course is hands-on in focus and involves the exploration of both digital and tradition 2D and 3D materials. There are no formal examinations though small critical and historical investigations are required.
PRE-REQUISITES
No Pre-requisite Required. The course provides a basic introduction to visual design which can complement study in the visual arts and other learning areas.

HSC EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
No formal examination. Students are assessed at the end of each module culminating in a display or folio of their best design work. Tasks consist of:
• Designing and Making 70%
• Critical and Historical Studies 30%
