Certificate III
This course is designed for students who wish to develop knowledge and skills to commence a career and be an effective employee in the retail services and customer service industry.
Retail job roles include: sales assistant, retail supervisor, retail manager, visual merchandiser.
PRE-REQUISITES
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students study four mandatory focus areas and a range of elective units of competency.
Mandatory focus areas are:
• Customer Service
• Safety
• Working in the industry
• Sales and Security
Students must complete 240 indicative hours of course work and a minimum of 70 hours work placement.
HSC EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
There is an optional HSC examination for ATAR purposes which is only available after completion of the 240 hour course. The exam involves a written examination consisting of multiple-choice, short answers and extended response items.
UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS COURSE
HSC VET courses are competency-based. Students’ complete units of competency to achieve SIR30216 Certificate III in Retail.
Attainment of the Certificate III can provide an ATAR equivalent.
