EXPLORING EARLY CHILDHOOD
Content Endorsed Course (Non-ATAR) - 2 Units
Students thinking about a career within the Childcare or Child service industries will benefit from studying this course. It supports the learning of the Certificate III in Childcare which can be studied at TAFE. Students with an interest in child health and welfare will benefit from it also.
There is no HSC exam component – all assessment is school based.
PRE-REQUISITES
There are no formal pre-requisites for this course, however, it is an advantage if students have an interest in this area.

• Young Children with Special Needs
• Child Health and Safety
• Starting School
• Children Of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Communities
• Play & The Developing Child
In the HSC Course, assessments will typically include:

• Observation and lesson plan
HSC EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
There are no HSC examination requirements.
UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS COURSE
Exploring Early Childhood has an emphasis on the real world concepts of parenting and raising children. Students visit local organisations which play a role in the lives of young children. Practical experiences and activities are utilised at every opportunity to promote the engagement and learning of early childhood matters.
