MUSIC 1
Board Developed Course (ATAR) - 2 Units - Major work requirement
This course is for students with an interest in all types of music regardless of their past musical experience. Students may already be proficient musicians or beginners with little prior knowledge. Students’ musical tastes and interest may vary widely, and they are all catered for in this course.
This course is highly flexible, it allows students to choose both the topics they study and the elective areas they wish to specialise in. In the final HSC examination 60% of the examination marks are allocated to the student’s elective choices. In the Year 11 and Year 12 courses, students will study the concepts of music through the learning experiences of performance, composition, musicology and aural within the context of a range of styles, periods and genres. Three topics (musical contexts) are studied each year.
Further information is available on the NESA website.
If a student qualifies, the Music Life Skills Course is available in mainstream classes. More information on Life Skills courses can be found here.
