Certificate III
Music Industry reflects the role of individuals who apply a broad range of competencies in various work contexts in the music industry. They may work in music performance, sound production, music creation and composition, music business.
The job roles that relate to this qualification may include:
• Musician
• Assistant sound technician
• Assistant music manager
• Music producer
• Stagehand and road crew
PRE-REQUISITES
There are no formal pre-requisites for this course, however it is an advantage if students have studied Music as an elective course in years 9 and 10.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students study three core units on:
• Implement copyright arrangements
• Work effectively in the music industry
• Plan a career in the creative arts industry
A selection of elective units comprises the remainder of the course. You must complete 240 indicative hours of course work.
HSC EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
There is no HSC examination for this course.
Music Industry counts as Board Endorsed unit credit for the HSC but does not contribute towards an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS COURSE
Students must complete 240 indicative hours of course work and a minimum of 70 hours work placement.
HSC VET courses are competency-based. Students’ complete units of competency to achieve a CUA30920 Certificate III in Music Industry.
Attainment of the Certificate III can provide an ATAR equivalent.
