Student leadership

Student Leadership

Student leadership helps young people find their voices, participate in decision-making, and understand their rights and responsibilities as active citizens. It helps students have a real impact on their learning and school environment and prepares them to participate meaningfully in their community.

Students can be leaders in the classroom, through their actions in the playground, through their support for others, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or local community events or projects.

Student Representative Forum

At Callaghan College Jesmond Senior Campus, the Student Representative Forum (SRF) is a body of students dedicated and committed to the wellbeing, interests and opinions of students, teachers and families.

With the Callaghan College Jesmond Senior Campus CORE values at hand, the SRF take on a variety of roles to add value and enhance our school, including Fundraising, Public Representation, Charities' support, as well as liaising between students and staff.

Every year four captains are voted to represent and speak on behalf of the SRF and the wider student community.

SRF members are valued within the school community because of their outstanding set of skills to assist in improving and developing a safe and welcoming school environment – which is a common goal that everyone in the SRF strive for.

Leadership, communication, creativity and organisation are values and abilities recognised and encouraged by SRF members, who meet weekly in the Leadership room.
