MATHEMATICS EXTENSION 2
Board Developed Course (ATAR) - 1 Unit
The Mathematics Extension 2 Year 12 course has been developed assuming that students have studied the content and achieved the outcomes of the Mathematics Advanced Year 11 course and the Mathematics Extension 1 Year 11 course.
The Mathematics Extension 2 Year 12 course has also been constructed on the assumption that students are concurrently studying the Mathematics Advanced course and the Mathematics Extension 1 Year 12 course, however they will only complete exams in Extension 1 and Extension 2.

Year 12 Topics
• Proof: The nature of proof
• Vectors: Further work with vectors
• Complex Numbers: Introduction to complex numbers
• Calculus: Further integration
• Mechanics: Applications of calculus to mechanics
HSC EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
Examination Paper (Extension 2: 3Hours and Extension 1: 2Hours – TOTAL: 5 Hours)
Multiple Choice 10%
Short and Extended Response 90%
