Certificate III
The entertainment industry itself is diverse and covers all aspects of the production of any type of live performance or event.
Occupational areas include audio, costume, front of house, lighting, make-up, props, scenic art, sets, staging and vision systems. There tends to be a high proportion of contract and casual work within the industry. There are many career choices across the entertainment industry. Some jobs are highly creative or technical, while others are management or customer service oriented. Expertise in technical production is sought after in a range of live performance and event contexts.
PRE-REQUISITES
There are no formal pre-requisites for this course.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course consists of:
• 7 mandatory focus areas (containing 7 associated units of competency)
• a range of elective units of competency
Students study core units on:
• Audio
• Lighting
• Customer service
• Safety
• Staging
• Vision
• Working in the entertainment industry and workplace
You must complete 240 indicative hours of course work.
HSC EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
The Higher School Certificate examination for Entertainment Industry is only available after completion of 240 indicative hours and will involve a written examination consisting of multiple-choice, short answers and extended response items.
UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS COURSE
HSC VET courses are competency-based.
Students’ complete units of competency to achieve a Statement of Attainment towards CUA30420 Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.
Students may undertake an optional Extension Course of 60 hours to achieve the CUA30420 Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services.
