Creative arts

Why study creative and performing arts?

Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) aims to engage, inspire and enrich learners through exciting the imagination and encouraging every student to reach their creative and expressive potential. Through studying the arts, students can learn to explore and express themselves as they discover and interpret the world around them. The arts contribute to the development of confident and creative individuals with the capacity to think for themselves.

The CAPA faculty at Callaghan College Jesmond Campus ensures that all students are taught by professional, competent staff, who are experts in their field. Our aim is to provide dynamic learning experiences in a supportive and enjoyable environment. We value creativity and independent learning and this is reflected in flexible teaching programs designed to meet the needs of individual students. Our focus is on building foundational knowledge and skills that enhance employment opportunities and provide pathways to further study.

In 2020, the creative and performing arts faculty will be moving into the new Callaghan College State of the Art creative industries building consisting of:

  • black box theatre / classroom
