FOOD TECHNOLOGY
Board Developed Course (ATAR) - 2 Units
Food Technology will appeal to students keen to explore food related issues and/or have a desire to work in the food industry and affiliated areas such as nutrition and dietetics, hospitality, health, marketing or retail, agriculture or food science. Each week students will be involved in the practical application to support theory work. Covered leather shoes must be worn for practical lessons.
PRE-REQUISITES
There are no formal pre-requisites for this course, however, it is an advantage if students are competent in food related areas.

• The Australian Food Industry

In the HSC Course, assessments will typically include:

• Research Report
• Trial HSC Examination
HSC EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
HSC examination requirements include:
• Multiple choice 20%
• Short answer 50%
• Extended response 30%
UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS COURSE
The Food Technology syllabus provides students with a broad knowledge of food related technology and skills that are relevant and transferable to other areas of life.
Complementary course choices include Hospitality Biology, PDHPE, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, and Chemistry.
