Certificate III
Sport Coaching provides a pathway to work in community coaching roles working or volunteering at community-based sport clubs and organisations in the Australian sport industry.This qualification allows students to develop their coaching skills.
There are numerous work placement opportunities offered to students. This includes coaching school students and community teams, officiating at a variety of carnivals and allowing the flexibility of choosing a placement of their choice once approved.
PRE-REQUISITES
There are no formal pre-requisites for this course.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students study six core units on:
• Apply business risk management processes
• Provide First Aid
• Participate in workplace health and safety
• Work in a community coaching role
• Meet participant coaching needs
• Continuously improve coaching skills and knowledge
A selection of elective units comprises the remainder of the course.
You must complete 240 indicative hours of course work.
HSC EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS
Sports Coaching counts as Board Endorsed unit credit for the HSC but does not contribute towards an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
Attainment of the Certificate III can provide an ATAR equivalent.
There is no HSC examination for this course.
UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS COURSE
You must complete 240 indicative hours of course work and a minimum of 35 hours work placement prior to the completion of the course.
HSC VET courses are competency-based. Students’ complete units of competency to achieve SIS30521 Certificate III in Sport Coaching.
