Statement of Attainment towards a Certificate II in Furniture Making (LMF20202)

Furnishing is only available to non-ATAR Year 12 students transfering from Industrial technology - Timber products and furniture technologies.

This is a non framework and non-Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). Vocational Board Endorsed Course designed to enable students to acquire a range of skills and competencies that are valued and recognised in the furnishings industry.

This course is studied as a 180 hour course commencing in Year 12 for non-ATAR students transitioning from Year 11 industrial technology timber and furniture technologies. The course is a Board Endorsed VET course and cannot be counted towards an ATAR.

There is no Year 12 examination in this subject. Students may complete work placement as part of the course requirements but this is not mandatory for Year 12 requirements.

This course is for students who wish to develop relevant technical, vocational and interpersonal competencies suitable for employment and further training in furnishing, furniture, glazing, carpentry, joiner, cabinet making and related industries.. It also provides for the development of employability skills such as teamwork and communication which are transferable to other industry areas.

Course costs:

Students will be expected to pay for the materials used in the production of practical projects. All other course associated costs are included in the General School Contribution.

This course is competency based and will be assessed using oral, practical, written and other assessment methods.

At the completion of this course, students will be well suited to a number of wood related industries including those in the building, construction and manufacturing industries.
